Fire Truck

It isn't everyday that a fire
truck runs down a moving fire,
but that happened Tuesday
afternoon in Green Creek., About
1 p.m. Jerry Gossett of the Green
Creek Service Station on Hwy.
No. 9 noticed smoke coming from
the back of a truck owned by R. J.
Jones of Coopers Gap that was
hauling trash. He got his brother-
in-law, Wayne Thompson, also a
Volunteer Fireman, and away
they went after the fire truck. He
dropped Mr. Thompson at the fire
station to get the fire truck and
proceeded after the truck, which
he caught about ft mile beyond
the fire station. They put out the
fire, limiting the damage to some
burned side boards on the truck.
