Weather Wednesday: high 75,
low 40. humidity 36%. Thursday
was another beautiful fall day.
Egypt’s defense minister
Wednesday said an “isolated”
group of four men led by a
Moslem extremist assassinated
Anwar Sadat Tuesday at a
suburban Cairo parade ground.
Secretary of State Alexander
Haig warned “external powers”
Wednesday to stay out of
Egyptian politics in the wake of
President Anwar Sadat’s death.
Sam Brown, the 14-year-old
boy who was Anwar Sadat's
guest two years ago will attend
the funeral of the Egyptian
president as a member of the
official United States delegation.
Sam, who lives in Liberty, S. C.
will be on the plane with former
presidents Carter, Ford and
Nixon.
The rail fence at the Depot in
Tryon is lined with pyracanthas
and they are loaded with red
berries. It is a beautiful sight.
Last year about this time,
thousands of robins came
through and had a feast on the
berries. This must be a good year
for berries, fruits, etc. The
acorns are so plentiful that it is
hard to walk around oak trees
(especially Chesnut oaks)

Football Tonight
All three area teams see action
tonight. Polk Central travels to
Cherokee; Tryon has its first
home game against Edneyville
and Landrum opens its
conference season at home
against Christ Church.
Edneyville at Tryon
After playing away from home
for five games, the Tryon Tigers
play their first home game of the
season against the Edneyville
Yellowjackets. Tryon sprang the
single wing offense at Landrum
last week and played probably its
best game in the 21-8 losing
cause. Tonight’s game should be
a good one, but until the Tigers
get more offense we will have to
pick Edneyville. Kickoff is at 7:30
p.m.
*******
Christ Church at Landrum
he Landrum Cardinals are 3-
- Ut are S ^^ having trouble with
eir offense. This opens their
conference play. Should be a
os e game, but with Landrum
Paying at home we will give
nem the edge. Kickoff is at 8
