This brought to 1,493 the number of leftists killed by Iranian firing Continued On Back Page Wrecks N. C Trooper C. T. Kennedy investigated two automobile accidents Saturday. Saturday at 12:30 a.m. on Hwy. 176 about 2 miles South of Saluda a 1979 Ford driven by Michael Derwort of Rt. 1, Saluda ran off the right of the road, came back across the Highway and hit the embankment on the left of the road. The vehicle turned over and Mr. Dewort and a passenger were pinned in the car until freed by the Polk County Rescue Squad. They were taken to St. Luke’s Hospital where they were treated and released. Saturday at 11:45 p.m. Richard Lowe of Tryon was driving a 1978 Ford pick-up on Holbert’s Cove Road. The truck ran off the road on the left and down an embankment and turned over. Mr. Lowe and three other passengers were not injured. Installation Ceremony The Polk Central Chapter of the Cancer Exploration Club of North Carolina will have an installation ceremony of the club officers, Friday, November 13 at 10:45 a.m. in the school cafeteria. W. C. Turner, Assistant Principal and Mrs. Eloise Johnson, club sponsor, will participate in the program with the officers, Stacey Stephenson. Ty Cantrell, Laura Lindsey Donna Smith, Thomas Jackson and Heather Campbell. All club members' parents are invited. Planning Board Meets Thursday The meeting of Polk County Planning and Zoning Board is Thursday, Nov. 12th in the Courthouse Annex at 7:30 p.m. Tryon Boosters Meet Thursday The Tryon Boosters Club will meet Thursday at 7:30 p.m. at the Tryon High School. Meet Thursday The Polk County Schools District Parent Advisory Council for ESEA Title I Reading will meet Thursday, Nov. 12th at 9:30 a.m. in the Stearns School Library, Columbus. Snyder, Landrum, lawn mower, valued at $540; Kathy Waldrop, Columbus, car seat and pocketbook, worth $72; Gary Jolley, Campobello, power meter and switch box worth $50; Jack West, Campobello, mail box and post, $50.
