Attempted Break-In
An attempted break-in of the
home of Mr. and Mrs. Terry
Hines of Hickory Grove section
took place Thursday afternoon.
According to Sheriff Boyce
Carswell, two boys came up to
the back of the home and broke
the glass and were attempting to
unlock the door from the inside.
An arm was inside attempting to
unlock the door when the
housekeeper came from the
basement to see what the noise
was. When the two boys saw her
they took off running. The Sheriff
got the bloodhounds from
Rutherford County and trailed
them, until they reached a point
where they were apparently
picked up by a motor vehicle.
Store Entered
Steve Shehan’s Service Station
on No. 9 at Mill Spring was
broken into Friday night and
about $150 worth of merchandise
was taken. Sheriff Boyce
Carswell said that they had taken
motor oil, antifreeze, cigarettes
and candy, but were apparently
scared ott before they could
load more merchandise into their
vehicle.
The thieves broke a glass out of
a sliding door to gain entrance
into the building.
Fire
The Landrum Fire Department
was called to Lake Lanier Sunday
at 11:45 p.m. where a woods fire
was threatening two homes.
