Often we don’t open our eyes and see the beautiful scenery, trees, flowers, etc. The mountains never look the same, they are constantly changing Some of us go about day to day and never notice the beautiful things that are free. We don't have to pay for them and they are here for everyone to enjoy. Inflation tumbled to an annual rate of 4.4 percent last month as housing costs flattened out and food prices rose only moderately the government said Tuesday. Some major banks lowered their prime lending rate 14 percentage point to 16% Tuesday, the lowest level since last November. C. 28782 Art Display Dale Lee McEntire is currently exhibiting some of his paintings in the Landrum Branch Library. Mr. McEntire has studied art at Mercer University, Macon, Gerogia, and Gaston Community College, Gastonia. For the past two years he has been a student of Karl Lohse, Tryon. Among the paintings on exhibit in the library is “Miss Martin”, chosen for honorable mention at the Polk County Art Show, Columbus This show was juried by the Mint Museum of Art, Charlotte. Other paintings in the library exhibit are: “Garden Pond", "Green Creek Farm", "Wintry Garden", and "Elk Horse." Currently other work by Mr McEntire is being displayed at the Tryon Depot, Tryon. Plans Tor his opening a one man show in the spring of 1982 have been confirmed by the Tryon Fine Arts Center. Frazier-Carruth Mr. and Mrs. Samuel I. Frazier announce the engagement of their daughter, Rebecca Lee to Steven Wayne Carruth, son’ of Mr. and Mrs. John J. Carruth of Landrum. Jr Brooklyn, Michigan is spending the Thanksgiving holidays with w^^' Dr and Mrs Aust n Woody of Tryon. 111 FRIDAY, NOV. 27,1981 Melissa Fowler Is Miss Cardinal Miss Melissa Fowler, was crowned Miss Cardinal last Saturday night by Landrum Student Body President Michael Hamrick and Miss Jackie Blanton, the 1981 Miss Cardinal. Miss Fowler is a junior and is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Marshall Fowler of Rt. 2, Campobello, S. C. Miss Kelly Brown was named First Runner-up. A senior, she is the daughter of Mrs. James Helms of Landrum and James Brown of Shelby. Miss Marlene Suddeth was named Second Runner-up. A senior, she is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Suddeth of Rt. 2, Campobello. Singing Saturday There will be a singing Saturday at 7:30 pm. at the Tryon Second Baptist Church featuring The Standard Quartet, The Stateline Singers and The Thessalonians. Everyone is invited. In Circle K Miss Alice Chesnutt, daughter of Mr and Mrs. A. B. “Pat" Chesnutt of Rt. 1, Tryon has been elected to the Circle K. Board of Directors at the University of Alabama.
