C. 28782 WEDNESDAY, JAN. 6,1982 Price 10c Per Copy Mrs. Leroy Salsich Mrs. Margaret Culkin Banning Salsich, 90, widow of Leroy Salsich, of Country Club Road, Tryon, died Monday night. She was born in Buffalo, Minn, and was a daughter of the late William P. and Hannah Young Culkin. She was educated in the Duluth schools and Vassar where she became an edior of the college magazine, and was Phi Beta Kappa. She was a trustee of Vassar for eight years. Her training in social work was received at the Chicago School of Civics and Philanthropy. At one time she held a fellowship from the Russell Sage Foundation for research work. She was a director of the National Council of Community Chests of America, a trustee of the National Health and Welfare Retirement Association and served as chairman of Program Coordination for the National Federation of Business and Professional Women’s Clubs and was a Trustee of the National Fund for Medical Education. She was a Trustee of the Community Research Council and in Duluth was a Trustee of the Duluth public Library Board for a number of years as well as a director of the Duluth Community Fund, she was an Honorary Chairman of the Duluth Women’s Institute, an honorary member of the Duluth Junior League and a past president of the American (Continued On Back Page) Move Here The Rev. and Mrs. Hugh E. Replogle of Hilton Head, S. C. have bought the home of Dr. and Mrs. David Paff on Hearthstone Ridge. Mr. Replogle is a retired Episcopal Rector. He is a native of Akron, Ohio and was educated at Severn School, Colgate University and Episcopal Theological School, Cambridge, Mass. Mrs. Replogle is a graduate of Radcliffe. Mr. Replogle served churches in Syracuse, Moravia, N.Y. and back at Syracuse. They have one son, Commander Hugh B. Replogle, U.S. Navy retired and one grandson, Christopher Hugh. Mrs. Replogle's hobbies are golf, gardening, and needlepoint. Mr. Replogle enjoys working with wood and metal. Miss Karen Fisher has returned to Franklin, Va. after spending the New Year’s holidays with her parents, Mr and Mrs. Douglas Fisher of Columbus. She had as a guest, Don Allen of Murfreesboro. Kline-Gatlin Mrs. Patricia McGuinn Kline and Dr. H. Leon Gatlin, both of Charlotte, N.C. were united in marriage Sunday, December 20th at St. John’s Episcopal Church in Charlotte. Auditorium Almost Complete In the 4 January Tryon Board of Education meeting, Carroll Scoggins reported on the auditorium remodeling program. The general contractor is doing the finishing jobs such as cleaning up. The electricians are almost finished and have done a good job. Superintendent Dusenbury reported a pipe breakage in the Middle School ceiling because it got cold. The ceiling came down in one room; it has been jacked up and will be ready by 5 January. The board accepted the resignation of Miss Link Sink and employed Mrs. Patricia Thompson. — League of Women Voters Observer “World’s Fair” At Rotary Monday Frank T. Schell will speak to the Tryon Rotary Club at the Hearthstone Inn Monday, January 11th at 12:30 p.m. Mr. Schell, of Hendersonville, is co-founder and owner of Globe Treks, Inc. He will speak on "World’s Fair — How To Get There." Mr. Schell was born in Franklin, Tenn., and attended schools in Tennessee and Alabama. He has a B.S. degree in Education (Outdoor Recreation) from the University of Tennessee and extensive experience in organizing, promoting and leading wilderness and outdoor expeditions.
