Read The Bulletin For Local News Carruth Is Libertarian Speaker Michael Carruth, recently elected Landrum town councilman, will speak on "Local Campaigning” at a public meeting of the South Carolina Libertarians Sunday, January 31 at the Richland County Public Library at 2 p.m. Libertarians will also discuss their plans for holding precinct meetings on February 6. “We're hoping for good weather;” said chairman Tom Waldenfels of Landrum; "two years ago we picked the day of the biggest snow of the year, and were only able to organize in 11 counties. We'd like to double that, at least, this year." Waldenfels added that he knew that the Libertarians would not be able to organize in every county this year, adding, "there are some counties in which the Republicans even have trouble in organizing.” Waldenfels declined to speculate on how many candidates the Libertarians would have this year, saying, “A lot of our people still don’t know what Congressional district they’re going to be in, or what seat in the General Assembly they'll be eligible to run for." Libertarians will be holding county conventions in the counties where they organize some or all of the precincts on March 6, and the state convention in Columbia in April. Candidates will be nominated at these conventions. — Reporter Announces For Tryon School Bd. Robert Thompson Robert Thompson of Tryon has announced his candidacy for the Tryon School Board.
