Williams, Jr., resigned Thursday after 23 years in the U. S. Senate, vowing that “history and Almighty God will vindicate me” even as his colleagues were poised to cast him out in the first expulsion since the Civil War. The Polk County Commission ers meet tonight at 7 o’clock at the Sunny View School. Tuesday at 3:15 p.m. there will be an orientation meeting of those who desire garden sites at the Tryon High School. The meeting will be in the Tryon High School Library. Wednesday at 8 a.m. is the Men’s Prayer Breakfast at the Tryon Congregational Church. The breakfast is sponsored by the Tryon Kiwanis Club. The Board Members of the Polk County Unit of the American Cancer Society will meet Tuesday, March 16 at 7:30 in the classroom at St. Luke’s Hospital. New Residents Among new residents in the area are Mr. and Mrs. Jerry Gregory of Peniel Road, Columbus. Jerry and Beverly are from Union, S. C. Beverly is a math teacher in Spartanburg District Five Schools and Jerry is the owner of Lyman Custom Frames, Inc., formerly located in Lyman, S. C. The Gregorys made the decision to move here so that Jerry could merge his custom framing business with Ironhorse Guild in Tryon. Mr. Gregory said that we have had a working relationship with Mrs. Wanda Durham, owner of Ironhorse Guild, for some time now, and are really looking forward to joining forces with her on a full time basis.” Dogwood Club Meets Wednesday The Dogwood Garden Club of Columbus will meet on Wednesday, March 17 at 1 p.m. at the home of Mrs. John Moran, Mountain Shadows, with Mrs. William Hann as co-hostess.
