Splawn Announces For Polk Sheriff H Don Splawn of Peniel Road in Columbus filed Monday morning his candidacy for the Democratic nomination for Sheriff of Polk County Splawn, a wholesale distributor and supplier with Biltmore Dairies for 23 yrs., is married to the former Hazel McIntyre. They have two children The Splawns are members of Peniel Baptist Church. He serves as a member of the Polk County Rescue Squad and he served two years in the U.S. Army. Splawn was the chief jailer with the Polk County Sheriff’s Department from 1982-88. He is presently employed with Freeman-Wood Construction of Greenville.
