Files For
Superior Court
Judgeship
Judge Zoro J. Guice. Jr. has
filed for a Superior Court Judge
ship in the Twenty-Ninth Judicial
District. Guice, a Western North
Carolina native, has served as a
District Court Judge for thirteen
years in the Twenty-Ninth
Judicial District and in the State
of North Carolina.
During his years of service.
Judge Guice has presided over
the district, civil and criminal
courts in twenty-four of North
Carolina’s one hundred counties
in all areas of the State from the
mountains to the coast He has
developed a reputation as a hard-
working and thorough trial judge
He has been recognized as a
Region C Criminal Justice
Planning Agency Outstanding
Judge of the year and was a 1988
recipient of a Certificate of
Appreciation from the North
Carolina Wildlife Resources
Commission for outstanding
service.
Guice states. “I look forward to
meeting and talking with the
people of this district during the
campaign I am concerned about
our court system and the problem
we face. If elected. I intend to
work hard, try the case, utilize
court time, and manage the court
calendars. I promise to be honest,

Admission of Students
Who Are Not
Polk Co. Residents
The Polk County School Board
had a first reading of a proposed
policy on “Admission of Students
who are not Domiciliaries of Polk
County. The second reading will
be held next month The proposed
policy is as follows:
A. Tuition of $ shall be
charged annually to the
following:
1 Pupils who are not
domiciliaries of North Carolina,
regardless of current residence.
2 Pupils who are domiciliaries
of North Carolina but do not
reside within the administrative
unit
3 Pupils who temporarily
reside in the administrative unit
who are domiciliaries of North
Carolina but are not
domiciliaries of the
administrative unit and who do
not intend, or whose parents or
legal guardians do not intend, to
make their permanent legal
domicile in the administrative
unit.
B Exemptions The following
categories of pupils are exempt
from the requirement to pay
tuition, regardless of their
domiciling status:
1 . Pupils who reside within the
school district with a parent or
guardian who is a student,
employee or faculty member of a
North Carolina college or
university.
2 Pupils who are placed in or
assigned to a group home, foster

Red Fox Ltd.
May Have Buyer
The U.S. Bankruptcy Court in
Charlotte on Monday granted
Red Fox Ltd an extension until
Feb. 5 on hearing the motion to
convert its Chapter 11
bankruptcy status to Chapter 7
liquidation.
Blicker Nettles, general
manager of Red Fox Ltd . the
owner of the club currently in
bankruptcy, said the decision to
extend the deadline was made in
light of a Letter of Intent to
purchase the club signed Jan 4
He said his lawyers advised him
not to disclose the name of the
buyer until a firm contract is
signed
“The club is open and
operating as normal, and we look
forward to serving our members
who are the mainstay of Red
Fox.” Nettles said "Though we
have had problems over the past
year, we look forward to
resolving these problems and to
continuing to try to make Red
Fox a premier golf course and
country club ”
Nettles said N.C Federal
Savings and Loan Association,
the holder of a $2 8 million
mortgage on Red Fox Ltd
properties, has temporarily
stopped any action on
foreclosure
Michael J. Minihan chief
executive officer of N.C Federal,
in a letter to members of Red Fox
dated Jan. 5. wrote "Contrary to
any rumors you may have heard.
