Missing Woman
Found Friday
Alma Lee, 25. was found Friday
about 3 p.m. about *4 mile from
Twin Lanes Rest Home from
where she disappeared Tuesday
morning. Other than being tired,
cold and hungry, she appeared to
have survived the ordeal except
for frost bite, and many
scratches, according to Jim
Cochran, Polk County
Emergency Management
Coordinator.
Ms. Lee was found at the resi
dence of Mr. and Mrs. Graham
Newman. Mrs. Newman, who
knew people were searching for
Lee.- called the Tryon Police
about 2:30 p.m. Friday when she
saw a woman try to enter her
house through a back screen
door Within a few minutes
searchers arrived at the house.
They could not find Ms. Lee and
were about ready to leave when
they decided to search a separate
storage room again and this time
they found her. She had gone
back into the storage room after
the rescurers had already
searched it.

The Polk County girls were Sth
in the Indoor Track Meet at UNC-
Chapel Hill Saturday. The 2-Mile
Relay team, composed of
Chanequa Canady. Leslie Carter.
Katie Malone and Jessica
Parkan. qualified in 11:23.49 for
the State Finals which will be
held February 3. All schools from
1-A through 4-A compete against
each other in Indoor Track The
team standings were: 1st.
Greensboro Dudley. 2nd.
Greensboro Grimsley. 3rd
Raleigh Broughton. 4th East
Mecklenburg. Sth. Polk County.

Jennifer Thompson made it to
the finals in the shot put and
Marlea Capozzie also competed
