PEB-11; 1990 Columbus Starts Work On Sign Ordinance Columbus Town Councilman Dr Thomas V. Bolling Thursday night continued his efforts to move the council towards adoption of a sign ordinance Since taking his scat on the board in November. Bolling has at each meeting raised the question His efforts Thursday were rewarded with an assignment: "You come up with an ordinance that is acceptable to business and townspeople." On a motion made by Council man Robert E Ormand. Bolling and Town Administrator Butch Smith were assigned to a committee to draft a sign ordinance for Columbus Bolling said rather than he and Smith working alone, he intends to consult husiness people, including the members of the merchant's association. "Somewhere, somehow, we have to start saying what we want in the appearance of the town.” Bolling said He said he has reviewed ordinances from Raeford. Tryon. Biltmore and the ordinance considered by Columbus four years ago which was never acted upon Ormand, however, expressed some concern about adoptiong any ordinance.
