Wolverine Wrestlers
3rd Among 1-A Schools
The Polk County Wolverine
Wrestlers competed in the State
2-A.1-A wrestling tournament
Friday and Saturday at Ledford
High School at Thomasville. The
Wolverines finished 14th overall
and 3rd among the 1-A schools.
The Polk County wrestlers who
had qualified finished as follows:
Derrick Pack —125 — 2nd.
Keith Painter — heavyweight —
4th
Ricky Miller —112 -9th.
Eric Waddell - 171 - 9th
Jeff Dinsdale —189 — 9th.
Matt Strawbridge —119 — 13th
Tommy Alley — 145 — 13th
The first round playoffs will be
today (Tues.f at 7 p m at the
Tryon gymnasium against
Cherokee.
Gymnastics Classes
The Landrum Recreation
Center, a division of the
Spartanburg County Parks and
Recreation Department, is
offering classes in gymnastics to
be held at the 0 P Earle
Elementary School for both
beginning and intermediate
gymnastics
The beginner class will meet
each Monday from 6:30 to 8:30
p m beginning Feb 26 and
lasting six weeks
The intermediate class will
meet each Saturday from 9 a m
to noon beginning Feb 31 and
lasting six weeks. Class
instructor is Cathy Webb

Super 10 Store
Closes Its Doors
The Super 10 store in Tryon
Plaza closed its doors Thursday
night for the last time.
The variety store, which
boasted that nothing it sold cost
over $10, carried clothing, house
wares, stationery supplies,
automotive goods, and paper
goods.
The public relations officer
for the parent company. Vareity
Wholesalers of Raleigh, was
unavailable for comment
Monday. There are
approximately 400 Super 10
stores nationwide
Garrett & Garrett of Fountain
Inn. S.C.. a firm which owns and
manages properties in North
Carolina, South Carolina and
Georgia, is the owner of Tryon
Plaza
Blake Garrett. Jr. said Monday
that he was unaware that Super
10 had closed its doors, but
expected that the company would
notify him soon
Garrett said often a chain like
Variety Wholesalers will reopen
a sister store in the same space
where they've closed a store. He
said it is also possible his firm
will aid the Super 10 owners in
finding a new tenant for the
space
"The Tryon Plaza is not new.
Garrett said. "Although we’ve
spent plenty of money to keep it

Schneider Is
Kiwanis Speaker
Gordon Schneider, the Director
of Polk County Mental Health,
will be the speaker at the Tryon
Kiwanis Club on Tuesday. Feb
20th. The meeting will be at the
Western Steer in Columbus,
beginning at 12:45
Mr. Schneider will discuss
child abuse and its treatment and
also will review the many
services provided by the
Department of Mental Health
