Local Shooters Sweep N.C. Junior Olympics
Three members of the Polk
County Junior Gun Club rifle
team took gold, silver and
bronze medals at the 1990 N.C
Junior Olympic Rifle
Championship in Charlotte.
Robin McCall was the gold
medalist. Danny Ledford took the
silver. Brent Edwards won the
bronze. They also took the team
championship As the top girl and
boy shooters. Robin and Danny
will travel to Colorado Springs,
Colorado for the National Junior
Olympic Championships where
they will compete against
shooters from all over the nation
at the U.S Olympic Training
Center. Robin will represent
North Carolina at this event for
the fifth time This is Danny's
first trip but Brent was boy's
champion last year. Polk County
Junior Gun Club has won the
team championship the last three
years.
This season the team has taken
trophies at Wofford College and
Charlotte. Robin, Danny and
Brent have won individual
awards at Wofford, Charlotte and
Union. South Carolina. All three
shooters are students at Tryon

There will be a Commodity
Distribution on Thursday. March

The truck will arrive at 10:30
am
Applications will be taken at
the Dept of Social Services,
beginning Monday. March 5 and
at Harmon Field on the 8th
starting at 7:30a.m.
People receiving food stamps
will get a card in the mail. Those
certified for a year will get a
letter in the mail All others must
apply again
The distribution will be in the
log building.
