Heath, a native of Long Island, N.Y.. moved to this area in 1985 upon retirement from Citibank. In addition to his appointment on the hospital board, he serves as the president of Hospice, treasurer of the Polk Chapter of the American Heart Association, and is a member of the finance committee for Polk County Community Foundation. He also helps with set construction for Tryon Little Theater. Heath, and his wife. Betsy, have four grown sons. — Reporter $80,653.26 To Polk Wins Duke Scholarship Fifteen recipients of prestigious B. N. Duke Leadership Award have been chosen, according to an announcement from Duke University officials. Top high school scholars and leaders from North and South Carolina were at Duke February 22-24 interviewing for the award. Seventy-eight finalists were chosen from a pool of over 1.000 candidates. The 15 recipients were chosen from those finalists. The winner from Tryon is Chadwick Loy (Chad) Lowry, son fo Jimmie R. Lowry and Mrs. Phyllis Lowry of Tryon. He is a senior at Tryon High School. The finalists participated in a three-day program that included scholarship interviews and special programs with distinguished members of the Duke Community: University President H. Keith H. Brodie. Trustee Emeritus Mary Duke Biddle Trent Semans. professors Norman Christensen, Albert Eldridge and Patricia Wright and head basketball coach Mike Krzyzewski.
