Continued On Back Page’ Moratorium Placed On Lake Lanier The relationship of cross-state- line neighbors has become a challenging one in Tryon in recent days. It was tested further Monday night when the Tryon Board of Commissioners decided to place a moratorium on Lake Lanier building and cease fire protection in Greenville County by July 1991. Recently the Polk County School Board considered another aspect of the relationship and decided to charge a modest tuition to South Carolina transfer students. The moratorium on Lake Lanier building was effective Tuesday. Mayor Robert M. Neely told the commissioners that he and Town Manager Barry G Richards had met at Lake Lanier Tea House with Greenville County planning director and county attorney to discuss the town’s concerns with protecting the quality of its drinking water source.
