Pace Attorney Says TLC Could Begin Work TLC Chevrolet/GEO in Tryon could begin building on its property next to Beechwood subdivision right now. even though three residents of that subdivision have filed an appeal in their suit to block the rezoning of that property. That was the opinion ol Columbus Town Attorney Chris Callahan last week at the town board meeting. At that meeting was Jerry Shannon, who brought the suit along with Irwin C. Winter and Virginia R. Dale He had asked adamantly that the minutes of the meeting reflect the fact that Bill Wakefield, owner of TLC Chevrolet/GEO. could not go ahead with his building plans. But Callahan said Shannon was out of order, and nothing was required in the minutes. Further more. he said it was his opinion that Wakefield could begin building right away "There is no stay order.” Callahan said this week “There is no reason he can't go ahead and build " TLC general manager Ron Price said he also believes that is the case “It is my understanding that if we went ahead and built now. even if at some point in the future they won their appeal, they could only prevent someone else from building.” Price said.
