Alewine is formerly from Tryon, having graduated from Tryon High and Columbia Bible College and pastured in Rutherfordton until Continued On Back Page Pedestrian Killed On Trade Street Ellen Miller, 43. of Tryon was struck by a passing automobile and killed at 8 p.m Saturday night on Trade Street across from Duke Power Co. in Tryon. Ethel Harris, 81. also of Tryon was charged with criminal mis demeanor of causing a death by vehicle. Tryon Police Chief Nathan Shields said Harris did not realize she had hit a person until later that evening when she heard people discussing the accident at the Triangle Stop Police Officers went there to interview her Shields said Harris told police that she knew she had hit something, but had not realized it was a person He said Miller was walking along with traffic in the street just as a rainstorm was ending and darkness was falling.
