Discovery House
Festival May 12
Discovery House will have its
Spring Festival on Saturday,
May 12, at 2 p.m. This event is
especially designed for area
young people who would like to
pursue their interests in the
performing arts. Parents and
older citizens are also welcome to
attend.
Discovery House is located at
115 Walnut Street, in Tryon. The
Spring Festival will begin with
a tour of the facility and proceed
to the parking lot, where
refreshments will be served and
"door” prizes awarded. In case
of rain, visitors will be directed to
the fellowship hall of a nearby
church.
Among special guests will be
cast members from the recent
production of "The Wizard of
Oz," co-sponsored by Discovery
House and Mill Spring
Accelerated School. Festival
visitors will meet Dorothy and
Toto, the Scarecrow, Tin
Woodman, Cowardly Lion, and
other personilities, including the
Wizard.
Leading off the entertainment
will be the Emerald City
Dancers, followed by several
show-stoppers numbers directed
by choreographer Cynthia
Andreson.
There is no charge for the
Festival, which is hosted by the
Discovery House Board of
Directors by way of thanking the
public for a successful year.
