Newman graduated Magna Cum Laude from East Carolina University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Industrial Technology, concentrating in electronics and with an emphasis in manufacturing. While attending East Carolina, Mr. Newman has been a full-time employee of the I. Dupont Company in Kinston, N. C. Mr. Newman was a member of Phi Sigma Pi National Honor Fraternity, Phi Kappa Phi Honor Society, Epsilon Pi Tau International Honor Fraternity for Education in Technology, and The ECU Circle of Omicron Delta Kappa Honor Society. He was also the recipient of several scholarships and awards, including Outstanding Senior Award for the Department of Manufacturing/ School of Industry and Technology. While a member of the various organizations. Mr Newman was an active participant in their fund-raising efforts and helped raise funds for United Cerebral Palsy, the American Cancer Society and many others. Vans will load at the Vineyard parking lot at 10 a m. for a visit to the Mize Nursery and the Splawns Egg Production Plant. Next will be an indoor Picnic Lunch at Green Creek Elementary School. The return trip features a nice tour of the Kangaroo Caddy factory at Columbus. The Vans arrive and the tour ends at 3 p.m. back at the Vineyard. Reservations are required for the tour.
