MON., JULY 16,1990 Theatergoers in Tryon have the opportunity to enjoy one of the most successful off-Broadway stage shows “Little Mary Sunshine." It played to packed houses for almost three years. Billed as “a musical about an old operetta” it is a musical spoof of old-time favorites like “Rose Marie" and “Naughty Marietta.” Deliberately corny songs and naive situations poke fun at the cliches of the innocent musicals of yesterday. There are 24 songs including thundering choruses, schmaltzy waltzes and liting duets — all kidding and all in fun. The plot offers a little bit of everything: Colorado Rangers, a stalwart Captain, a lovely Mary, a chorus of simpering school girls and a villainous Indian The young heroes, seen above, are Megan Wallace of Landrum and Drew Brannon of Tryon. Both are students at Spartanburg Continucil On Back Page Hi Pages Todas 2nc Per ( ops Toastmasters Club Meets Toastmasters Talk of the Town Club will meet Wednesday, July 18 at the Western Steer, Columbus.
