We announced Friday that the
NFL was to name the two cities
where expansion teams will play,
but our source of information was
wrong.
The NFL did make an
announcement regarding the
timetable for expansion, but we’ll
all have to wait until March
before learning which cities are
chosen. Charlotte is one of the top
three contenders, according to
NFL-watchers.
Henderson County homes had
the highest radon levels in the
state, according to an N.C.

Rozema Receives
Medal Of
Appreciation
Dr. Ted Rozema, M.D.,
recently returned from a trip to
Budapest, Hungary, Prague and
Plzen, Czechoslovakia, where he
attended the 3rd International
Symposium on Chelating Agents
in Pharmacology, Toxicology
and Therapeutics.
Dr. Rozema received a medal
of appreciation from the Charles
University School of Medicine for
continued support and
participation in the field of
Chelation Medicine.
Dr. Rozema has been a leader
in this field, creating the
International Chelation Research
Foundation which is now
sponsoring a scientific study of
EDTA for use in peripheral
vascular disease at Walter Reed
and Letterman Army Hospitals.
The International Chelation
Research Foundation also held in
International meeting on
chelation at Georgetown
University, Washington, D.C.,

Men’s Cross
Country Meet
There will be a Men’s Cross
Country organizational meeting
at the Tryon High School
Cafeteria on Tues., July 31st at
7:30 p.m.
Theda Knopfle arrived in
Tryon last Thursday as the
representative of the Pirmasens,
Germany Rotary Club. She was
accompanied by Jennifer
Thompson who is returning from
a five week visit in Pirmasens,
where she was a guest in the
Knopfle home. Theda (Tay da)
will be a guest in the home of
Glenn 0. Thompson for several
weeks.
Quilter’s Guild
On July 18 the Western N.C.
Quilter’s Guild chartered a bus
trip to the 21st Annual National
Quilting Ass Quilt Show at the
Knoxville Convention Center.
The Club's Aug. 16th meeting
will be held at the First
Congregational Church of Christ
on 5th Ave. and White Pine Dr. in
Hendersonville at 9 a m. Three
members will conduct
workshops. Dee Dee Triplett, a
Santa Doll; Alice Haynes, small
quilted feathers; Mary Summey,
small angel wall hanging.

Gospel Singin’ Jubilee
This year approximately 5,000
Gospel Music lovers are
estimated to fill the High Country
Fairgrounds in Boone. N.C. to
enjoy the 8th annual Gospel
Singin’ Jubilee is hosted by The
Greenes and is set to be held the
weekend of August 9 through 12.
On Thursday, August 9th, the
talent includes The Kingsmen,
The Primitive Quartet, The
Perrys and The Greenes, Gold
City. The Inspirations and The
Greenes are appearing Friday
night. Saturday evenings lineup
features The Dixie Melody Boys,
Charles Johnson and The
Rivivers, Heavenbound and The
Greenes.
Free camping is available at
the fairgrounds. In case of ram.
the concerts will be held under a
large tent.
