Synthesizer Creator
Featured In Concert
Synthesizer music is all around
us. It is heard on television and
radio and in the movies. It is far
more tightly woven in to the
fabric of our everyday lives than
we realize.
One of the pioneers in the
realm of electronic music,
Robert Moog, creator of the
Synthesizer, will be the featured
guest artist at the Brevard
Chamber Orchestra concert at 4
p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 9 in
Whittington-Pfohl Auditorium on
the Brevard Music Center
campus.
Moog, will demonstrate his
creation with the performance of
“ Concertaire II for Synthesizer
and Orchestra” by Harvey
Miller, a member of the Brevard
College faculty. Moog will also
talk about electronic musical
instruments and their impact on
modern music.
There is no admission charge
for BCO concerts. The public is
also invited to pack a picnic
basket and join BCO friends and
orchestra members after the
performance for dinner on the
Music Center grounds.

Hawaiian Luncheon
About 65 senior citizens
enjoyed an excellent Hawaiian
luncheon music by Gay Young at
the “Vibs” and entertainment
provided by Cynthia Andresan
from the "Discovery House of the
Arts” at the Fine Arts Center.
Cynthia was a hit in her grass
skirt and bare feet. She not only
danced the Hula, but instructed a
few ladies in the art. including a
beautiful three year old guest
who was dressed in authentic
Hawaiian costume and seriously
followed all the Hula instructions
to the delight of all. I think her
name was “Kristen.”
In no time at all we had a
Hawaiian chorus line, arms and
hips going in all directions to the
laughter of everyone involved.
The Meeting Place fully
entered into the world of the
Polynesians from the “Lei tree”
at the front door (a volunteer
dispensing a colorful lei to
everyone) to the beautiful hand-
made flower decorations
throughout the building. As my
mom used to say “It was a sight
for sore eyes."
Fifteen of the seniors were the
lucky winners of a fresh
pineapple — originally part of the
table decorations.
The program was started bv
Margie Horne’s showing of a
beautiful Hawaiian video. All the
senior ladies outdid themselves
in “going Hawaiian” with Mu-
mus, beads and flowers in their
hair.
We invite you seniors over age
60 to find out about our activities
by calling the Meeting Place, Tel.
