Steve Strickland had an idea
for a common language which
might be used by “taxpayers”
and “pro-education” folks to
move together from arguing to
finding solutions. He suggests
that the debate center around
results. Are students learning?
Are accepted, verifiable
measures showing
improvement?
Strickland suggests that
everyone wants quality education
for Polk County children, and
that if the debate focused on
results, the rest of the issues
would come into a proper

Gospel Crusade
Redeemed Baptist Church,
located on Blackstock Rd.,
Landrum, will host an Area-Wide
Gospel Crusade September 17 -
22, at? p.m. each evening.
Featured speakers will be area
pastors. Already on the schedule
is Rev. John Parker who will
bring a special message on Wed.,
Sept. 19. Other speakers will be
announced at a later date. There
