EMS Safety Poster Winner The winners of the EMS Safety Poster Contest from Sunny View School are fourth graders Heather Jamerson and Loren Finch. Winners were selected Sept. 20. Fairchild Sculptures Win At Exposition Lee Fairchild of Columbus entered five wildfowl scupltures in the Sculptures and Designs in Wood exposition held in Greenville, S.C. Memorial Auditorium last weekend. He won first place for a belted kingfisher, first place for a pair of mourning doves, first place for a composition of three Bob Whites, second place for a Saw- Whet Owl and second place for a Tree Swallow. There were 156 wildfowl sculptures entered in the competition in which the Belted Kingfisher won best of show. Mr. Fairchild was a judge and featured wildfowl carver at the same show in 1989. He has been carving for 11 years and teaches carving at Tryon Crafts. He is a member of the Ward Foundation, Continued On Back Page Tournament Of Bands Great Success The 12th annual Harrison Elliott Tournament of Bands, sponsored by the Landrum High School Distinctive Regiment Band was held last Saturday with approximately 1200 band students participating from different schools from S.C. and N.C. The Landrum High Marching Band will compete in competition Saturday at Chesnee, S.C. Traffic Interuption Terry Brothers Construction Company will begin replacement/extension of some 4200’ of 8” sewer in the Woodland Park-Glenwalden Circle area on Tuesday, Oct. 2. During this period of time, Glenwalden Circle will be closed to all thru traffic. Every attempt will be made to provide access to each residence at all times.
