The Steps to HOPE Aerobathon
will take place Saturday, Sept. 29.
Aerobic enthusiasts will gather at
9:30 a.m. in the Stearns
Gymnasium and undertake a
three-hour marathon of aerobic
exercise to earn money for Steps
to HOPE, a non-profit
organization which assists
victims of domestic violence. If
you would like more information
on being a sponsor call Barbara

The Polk County Board of
Commissioners will meet
Monday night at 7:30 p.m. in the
courthouse annex.
The Polk County School Board
will meet Monday night at 6:30
p.m. in the Stearns Board Room.

Sgt. and Mrs. William Burton
(Ruby Bradley) are parents of a
son, Curtis Austin, born Sept. 18th
in Holland. He wieghed 6 lb. 13 oz.
He has a sister, Danielle, age 2.
The maternal grandparents
are Manuel and Mary Bradley of
Tryon and Mrs. Betty Short of
Lenoir, N.C.
The paternal grandparents are
Mr. and Mrs. William Burton, Sr.
of Dayton, Ohio.
The maternal great-
grandmother is Mrs. Ruby
Bradley of Landrum, S.C.

John Foster, 74, died Sept. 26,
1990 in White Oak Nursing home,
Tryon.
Petty Funeral Home in
Landrum is in charge of

Inman’s Harvest
Festival Saturday
HSIIWI.
Inman’s annual Harvest Day
Festival will be held Saturday in
downtown Inman. It is sponsored
by the Inman Chamber of
Commerce.
Events are planned for the all-
day affair with over 100 artists
and craftsmen participating. In
addition, there will be an auction,
gospel music, doggers, country
music and lots of good food.
The festivities are to begin at
8:50a.m.
Also in conjunction with the
festival in downtown, there will
be a rodeo at JBJ Arena on both
Friday and Saturday evenings
beginning at 8 p.m.
Support Group
The Codependents/ACA
Support Group will meet
Monday, Oct. 1 at 6 p.m. at Tryon
Presbyterian Church on Harmon
Field Road.
Polk County Veterans Service
and Emergency Management
office will be close the week of
Oct. 1-6. Reopen on Oct. 8.
Football Tonight
The Landrum Cardinals will
play at home, facing North
Central High School at 8 p.m.
The Polk County Wolverines
will travel to meet Charlotte
Latin High School at7:30 p.m.
If you are traveling to
Charlotte for the game, take 1-85
from Spartanburg to the Billy
Graham Parkway in Charlotte;
take the Billy Graham to 1-77
South and take 1-77 South to the
Pineville exit No. 90.
At the traffic light at the end of
the exit ramp, turn left and go
back under I-77. Turn left at first
road and travel to N.C. Hwy. 51.
Turn left on Hwy. 51 and travel
until you reach its intersection
with N.C. Hwy. 16. Turn right on
Hwy. 16 and go about 1.5 to 2
miles and look for the school on
your right.
An Association-
Wide Revival
Polk Baptist Associational Re
vival will be Sunday night, Sept.
30 through Thursday night, Oct
4.
It will be held at the Columbus
Baptist Church. Pre-revival
music will begin at 7:15 p.m. and
revival services will be at 7:30
p.m. each night.
Sun. night speaker, the Rev.
Lee Gregory. The rest of the
week the Rev. Gregory Mathis
will speak.
