may be called upon to choose the
newest member of the Columbus
Town Council tonight.
The council must appoint a
member to replace Grover
Hutcherson, who died recently,
Town Administrator Butch Smith
said A special election cannot be
called.
But the two remaining coun

who should be appointed, and the

Tom Bolling, 184, Kathleen
McMillian, 180, and Charles
Blackwell, 148
Robert Ormand said he intends
to nominate Charles Blackwell,
his running mate in the last
election.
"He served four years (on town
council) before,” Ormand said.
“He is a businessman in town."
Ormand said he believes
Blackwell would be good for
Columbus. “We are trying to
work for the betterment of the
town," he said “We are trying to
get people to work together ”
Mayor Smith said he hopes
