The North Carolina
Agricultural Extension Service
1991 Gardener’s Calendar is now
on sale. The extension service
already has won an award for the
calendar, which features a
beautiful color photograph of
Pearson’s Falls on the front.
On the page with each month’s
dates are a series of Garden
Notes, telling you what to
fertilize, what to plant, what to
prune, pests to watch out for, how
to care for your lawn and chores
to remember.
In the back is a Polk County
Profile, including population,
altitudes of the towns and most
prominent mountain peaks, and
climate data.
This calendar deserves
awards, and the gratitude of
gardeners across the county.
Because there will be no postal
service Monday, there will be no
Bulletin published and the
Bulletin office will be closed. The
staff, however, will work part of
the day Monday to be sure that
