$3,500 Reward Offered
In Trucker’s Death
A $3,500 reward is being offered
for information leading to the
arrest and conviction of the
person responsible for the death
of an Indiana truck driver nine
months ago.
Philip E. Reed, of Westville,
Indiana, was killed on March 21,
when someone dropped a
dumbbell from an Interstate 26
overpass. The 38-year-old died
instantly after the 30-pound
weight crashed through his wini -
shield and crused his chest.
Funding for the $3,500 reward
came from Reed’s family and
from his trucking company.
Sicomac Carriers, Inc. An
additional reward of up to $1,000
is available through
CrimeStoppers of Spartanburg
and, several weeks after the
incident, a local restaurant
owner offered a $500 reward.
Reed was crossing under the
Landrum Mill Road overpass on
I-26 shortly after midnight when
the incident occurred. A truck
driver traveling behind Reed saw
the truck’s lights go out and then
saw Reed’s truck veer off the
road
Anyone with information about
the case is asked to call the
Spartanburg County Sheriff’s
Office at 803-596-2646 or 803-5%.
