Campobello Police Chief Gene
Cogdell was featured in the
Spartanburg Herald-Journal
Monday. He described his job,
keeping watch over a town of 500
people, as community-oriented
police work. He only had one
crime to solve this past year, a
break-in at an antique store, and
he solved it in a few days. But
as a former State Law
Enforcement Division officer in
Columbia and member of the
Spartanburg vice squad, Cogdell
says he never lets down his
guard, even in Campobello. “You
can never be too careful,” he
says.

1991 Foothills Regional
Horse Seminar
The program for the third
annual Foothills Regional Horse
Seminar is set and area
horsemen will have a chance for
more equestrian training. This
year the two-day event is being
relocated to the Tryon Fine Arts
Center in Tryon. The date for the
seminar is January 17 and 18.
The topics for this year’s
program cover a wider
assortment of ideas. Equine
health regulations, insurance
requirements for horse owners,
dealing with area horse health
problems and equine feed
analysis are just a few of the
topics to be discussed in the
January workshop.
Some exceptional speakers are
scheduled for the seminar. While
too numerous to list all of the
presenters, some of the out-of-
towrn speakers are Dr. Tom
McGinn, Assistant Director of
Field Forces for NCDA
Veterinary Division, Doug
Landreth, Representative for
Diversified Insurance Services,
Dr. Bob Mowrey, Extension
Horse Specialist for North
Carolina, and Nathan Garren,
Associate of the office of James
F. Jordan, Attorney at Law.
Each will provide area horse
owners some insight to the
various segments of equestrian
care.
The Foothills Regional Horse
Seminar is being co-sponsored by
the Tryon Riding & Hunt Club,
FENCE, and the Polk County
