The weather Wednesday: high

was sleeting Thursday morning,
but turned to rain by midday.
Curbside recycling in Tryon
next Wednesday will serve the
following streets: Aspen, Bacon,
Beaver, Beech, Berry,
Cleveland, Elm, Freeman Hill,
Fox Trot, Grady, Livingston,
Maple, Markham, McDonald,
Oak, Palmer, Payne, Pine,
Scriven, Spruce and Tuckaway.

completes the series of excerpts
of the remarks made recently to
the Tryon Rotary by Patrick
Oliver-Kelley. Oliver-Kelley is an
investment banker with
extensive experience overseas.
In his conclusion, Oliver-Kelley
describes those countries he
believes would be the “winners”
in a Gulf war, and urges the
multi-national coalition to take
action sooner than later. He
believes war is inevitable.
Of course, the Bulletin will give
a forum for differing opinions.
Oliver-Kelley’s remarks:
“The first winner is Kuwait —
it will return to our maps. Is an
economically liberal country
which by that liberalism was a
threat to Iraq's isolation. It was

Hole-In-One
At Tryon CC
Tom Teal shot his first Hole-In-
One on the 18th hole at Tryon
Country Club on Friday, Dec. 21.
He was playing with Herb
Michener, and to add to the thrill,
the club prefessional, Cecil
Turner just finished up on 18 and
saw the ball trickle into the hole.
Tom missed making his hole in
one on his 80th brithday which
was on the next day, Dec. 22.
Congratulations to Tom on two
great events!
New Arrival
Mr. and Mrs. David A. Stone of
Lake Lanier, are parents of a
daughter, Megan Brooks Stone,
born Dec. 15 at Greenville
Memorial Hospital. She weighed
6 lbs. 9 ozs. and is 19*/ 4 inches
long.
Maternal grandparents are Mr.
and Mrs. Van T. Greene of Tryon.
Paternal grandparents are Mr.
and Mrs. Andrew J. Stone of
Landrum.
Erwin Beats Polk Girls
The Polk County varsity girls
lost to Erwin, 64-46, in the
opening round of the Blue Devil
Christmas Classic in Brevard
Wednesday night.
The boys were to face Landrum
Thursday night.

Lecture Series On
Drama At ICC
Mark G. Waren, 1990-91
Artist at Isothermal Community
College, announced today that
the Planning Committee had
selected Dr. Stanley A. Waren,
Prof. Emeritus at the City
University of NY Graduate
School and Univ. Center, to be the
lecturer and principal discussant
for its “Contemporary American
Drama and Theatre" program on
Jan. 10th.
The program will be offered at
Isothermal's Polk Campus at 2
pm and at Isothermal's Spindale
Campus in the Library
Auditorium at 7;30 pm.
The program will include Dr.
Waren’s lecture, a panel
discussion featuring Dr. Waren,
Dr. W. Terry Rogers of the Univ'
of NC at Wilmington and the
Visiting Artist, and audience
discussion. Both programs are
free and open to the general
public, which is warmly invited
to attend and participate in these
