injured in an automobile crash

Georgia Bonesteel of Hend
ersonville was the subject of a
Charlotte Observer feature
recently. Headlined "The Queen
of Quilts," the story described
Bonesteel's public television
series, books and video enter
prises in a nearly full page story
on front of the Sunday "Living"
section. Bonesteel's parents live
at Red Fox.
There will be a meeting of St.
Luke's Hospital's Board of

About 20 people are working
in every corner of the Thermal
Belt area to root out the best
photographs of the area's his
tory - right up to today. Many
unusual and exciting photo
graphs have already been dis
covered, said project chairman
Jeff Byrd.
In addition, Homar Jones of
Columbus is writing a historical
narrative packed with the best
vignettes from the area's rich
historical tradition.

submit for consideration for
inclusion in the book, bring

Pack is the daughter of Mr.
and Mrs. Claudy Pack, and
Wilson is the daughter of Mr.
and Mrs. James D. Wilson.
Both arc from Mill Spring.
Donald Leroy Greene, son of
Mrs. Joan W. Greene of Tryon,
was graduated in December
from Gardner-Webb.

Jaycees Schedule
Walk-A-Thon
A Walk-A-Thon to benefit
cystic fibrosis research efforts
will be held on April 7 at
Scrivens Road beginning at
1 p.m.
The Polk County Jaycees,
sponsors of the event, are par
ticularly excited about the
rcseach efforts going on. Scien
tists in 1989 discovered the
gene which causes cystic fibro
sis. Last year, researchers cor
rected defective cells in labora
tory dishes.
"The pace of research has
increased considerably," said
Frank House, the chairman of
the local event.
Each person who collects $35
will earn at Foundation t-shirt.
