He (Continued On Back Page) Local Buyers Nearer To Deal On Red Fox The group of Thermal Belt residents which has been patiently trying to buy Red Fox Country Club can almost taste success these days. Tlie local buyers formed The Club At Red Fox over a year ago with 176 original members. While negotiations dragged on, that number dwindledby 20 percent to 141. Now a drive for 100 new members has begun and the literature mailed last week to prospects is brimming with optimism. "We are now pleased to report that after considerable delays... we are in a position to enter into a purchase agreement for the properties," the letter stated. However, Tony Jackson, Red Fox Country Club general manager and director of golf, said the local buyers' enthu siasm may be based on a faulty understanding of the current situation. "They are basing their optim ism on the belief that no one else is in the picture," Jackson said. "However, I have a letter of intent (to purchase the pro perties) in my hands which was received last week. It has received favorable comment on all sides and looks pretty good at this point." In addition, Jackson said four other parties made on-site inspections at Red Fox Country Club last week. The exact terms of the local (Continued On Back Page) Brady Now Pro At Killearn CC Marc Brady, son of Mr. and Mrs. Holland Brady of Tryon, has accepted the position as Director of Golf at Killearn County Club and Inn at Talla hassee, FL. Killearn is the site of the annual Centel Classic, a major event on the LPGA golf tour. Marc received his initial training under Lou Hoskyns at Red Fox Country Club and received additional training at various clubs in Florida and North Carolina. During recent years, he has served as golf professional at Sapphire Valley Country Club and Holly Forest Country Club, both in Sapphire, N.C. Later, he served at The Club at Edisto, Edisto Island, S.C. His most recent appoint ment was as Head Golf Profes sional at Shalimar Pointe Country Club near Fort Walton Beach, FL. He assumed his new position at Killearn on March 15. Bushner B&E On River Road Reported A construction trailer at a building site on River Road was broken into last weekend. Polk County Chief Deputy Calvin Atkins said burglars broke a lock on a construction trailer containing tools owned by William E. Wall Construc tion. Stolen were a 4-inch Craftsman joiner, a Craftsman transit, a Delta electric miter saw, and a compound bow. Atkins said there were no leads in the case.
