We have appreciated the let
ters and many personal com
ments we have received over
the las! two weeks in answer to
our questions about printing
court results in The Bulletin.
The clear opinion of (he com
munity is that this is a public
service it wants to have pro
vided. As far as how people
handle this knowledge once
provided, we were advised to
let the chips fall where they
may.
So be it, then. We are glad to
provide the service. But here are
two ground rules:
First, the court results will be
printed in The Bulletin in full.
No names included in the court
docket listing will be left out.
Second, the listing will be
printed in smaller type, pri
marily as a space-saving
device.
Be good out there.

BPW Meets Mon.
The Thermal Belt Business
and Professional Women Orga
nization will meet Monday,
April 8 at Brannon's at 7 p.m.
Ellen Cantrell will discuss
interior design and offer deco
rating ideas. Mrs. Cantrell, an
Interior Designer, owns Green
River Interiors in Rutherfordton
and teaches courses in interior
design at Isothermal Commu
nity College.
Mrs. Cantrell and her hus
band, Gene, acquired the Green
River Plantation in Polk County
in 1987 and then began restor
ing the 42-room house that was
built in the early 1800's. On
December 1 the Cantrells
opened 25 rooms, foyers, and
hallways in the house to the
public. The house became
available for tours by appoint
ment January 13.

day at 8 p.m. at Tryon Pres
byterian Church on Harmon
Field Road. Al-Anon is a group
for spouses, families, and
friends of people who have a
drinking problem.

Morgan-Shipley
Cynthia Ann Morgan and
Stewart Michael Shipley, both
of Chattanooga, will be married
may 19 at the home of the
bride's other near Columbus.
Miss Morgan is the daughter
of Mrs. Lila F. Morgan and the
late Dr. Roy L. Morgan. She
received an associate degree in
nursing from Southern College
of Seventh-Day Adventists at
Collegedale, Tenn. A registered
nurse and paramedic, she works
as an emergency room charge
nurse at Parkridge Hospital in
Chattanooga.
Mr. Shipley is the son of Mr.
and Mrs. Gilbert E. Shipley of
Chattanooga. He is a graduate
of Ooltewah High School, has
served in the U.S. Marine
Corps, and is a captain in the
Tri-Community Volunteer Fire
Department. He is employed by
G&M, a family-owned con
struction company.

Stephanie Morgan, a student
at Tryon High Schoo], recently
attended the Converse Leader
ship Program at Converse Col
lege in Spartanburg, S. C. Now
in is 12th year, the weekend
conference featured leaderships
skills training and personal
development workshops for 150
high school juniors from 8
southern states. Program partic
ipants were nominated by their
high school guidance counse
lors.
The program, sponsored by
the Converse College Alumnae
Assn., is part of an ongoing
college mission to develop
women leaders of a'l ages.
Stephanie is the daughter of
Mr. and Mrs. John Morgan of
Landrum.

Wildflower Walks
At FENCE
Wildflower walks at the
Foothills Equestrian Nature
Center are scheduled for
Wednesdays from 10 to noon
during the spring and fall sea
sons. FENCE botanist Phil
Nisbet leads the walks, and the
next one will be Wednesday
April 10.
Nisbet says there will be
plenty of triiliums to be seen, as
well as violets and the flower
ing trees and many other
species. Everyone is invited to
meet at the Trail Shelter at 10
a.nt. next Wednesday. There is
no charge for these walks.
