N. C. 28782 Adam Vining Vining Wins Elks Hoop Shoot Title Adam Vining of Gainesville, Ga., won the Elks Southeast Regional Hoop Shoot 12-13 year old championship Saturday in Valdosta, Ga. Adam is the 12-year-old son of Seth and Cathy Vining. His father is the East Hall High School boys basketball coach. Adam had to go overtime to win the competition held at Valdosta State College. By winning the regional cham pionship, Adam advances to the Elks National Hoop Shoot Championship set for May 11th in Springfield, Mass. Nancy Wilson Kiwanis Speaker Nancy Wilson, 6th grade teacher at Green Creek School, will speak to Ihe Tryon Kiwanis Club on Tuesday, April 9, 1991 at the Western Steer. Nancy, who was raised in Omaha, Nebraska, and educated at Iowa State University, will speak about her visit to the Soviet Union last summer. She was part of a group from North Carolina State University sent to Russia to develop a teaching curriculum about the Soviet Union for North Caro lina schools. She will discuss that and her interesting experi ences while in Russia and also show slides from her trip. —Community Reporter 16 Pages Today 20C Per Copy Dr. Angel Mitchell New Veterinarian At Bonnie Brae Dr. Angel Mitchell has joined Bonnie Brae Veterinary Hospi tal, located in the same buil ding as Skyuka ACE Hardware in Lynn. Dr. Mitchell went to N.C. State University, where she earned a bachelor's of science degree in zoology. She attended N.C. Stale College of Veteri nary Medicine, where she was a classmate of Dr. Bibi Winstead, and graduated in 1988. Dr. Mitchell is married to Randy Mitchell, an elevator mechanic with Schindler Ele vator. They have no children, but plenty of animals - nine dogs, three cats, and two par rots. She has been working for the past three years in Raleigh at a small animal practice.
