On Display
On display in the Lanier
Library showcase is Martha
Graves' collection of playing
cards. The colorful exhibit fea
tures a collection of all sorts of
cards-giant playing cards,
miniature cards (doll house
size), round cards, and crooked
cards.
There arc beautiful cards from
the Orient, each card with a
different Oriental print. There
are the strange and mysterious
Tarot cards, and most interest
ing of all-"Talking" cards
which offer a unique way to
communicate with the inhabi
tant of Tokyo.

Teaching Math At
Polk Central
Lisa Brewer has been teaching
Mathematics at Polk Centra]
High School since late last
spring.-
Born and raised in Spartan
burg, she was the Valedictorian
of her class at J. F. Burns High
School in Duncan, S.C.
Mrs. Brewer began college as
an engineering student at
Clemson University. Two years
later she transferred to the Uni
versity of South Carolina in
Spartanburg, where she earned
a BS-. Degree in Secondary
Education Mathematics. She
did her practice teaching at J F
Burns and at D. R. Hill Middle
Schoo], also in Duncan.
At Polk Central, Mrs. Brewer
teaches Geometry, Algebra I
and Consumer Math to students
in grades ten through twelve.

Brandon Case, born April 12 at
Frye Regional Medical Center
in Hickory. Tyler weighed 7
lbs. 8 ozs. He has a brother,

years old.
