The weather Wednesday: high
88, low 63, hum. 58 percent.
The only man allowed on the
Habitat for Humanity building
site in Charlotte Tuesday was
the building inspector - and he
wore a wig.
That's the report we read
about the "women only" Habitat
project underway in the Queen
City. Former First Lady Rosa
lynn Carter's participation
brought lots of media attention.
Mrs. Carter's t-shirt read,
"Look, Look, See Jane Build."
Charlotte Habitat does a
wonderful job. But, according
to our sources, you should
know that the Thermal Belt
Habitat for Humanity organiza
tion is building as many houses
(17 and 18 are underway) based
on population ratios as the best
Habitat organization around.
Three cheers for the women.
Three cheers for Habitat!
This just in from Chuck Ross:
"You heard about the guy who
was tar-and-feathcred and run
out of town on a rail? He said,
'You know, if it wasn't for the
honor, I'd just as soon walk!'"

C.W. Hardin of Canton, a
member of the N.C. Board of
Transportation, said grading
should begin later this month
for the four-lane corridor from

During construction, safe

said. Grass will be planted over
bare ground caused by con
