Tlie Tryon Town Council met
last week and had a surprise
visit from Bill Williams, the
district supervisor of all N.C.
Alcohol Law Enforcement
agents in a 17-county district.
Williams reviewed with the
council its options for holding a
referendum vote to eliminate
certain kinds of establishments
selling alcohol.
In addition, he talked with the
council about ALE's role in
investigating applicants for
liquor licenses.
"It was a very productive
meeting," Mayor Bob Neely
said. "He offered us some
assistance."

Distribution
There will be a Commodity
Distribution on Thursday, June
13, at Harmon Field. The truck
will arrive at 8 a.m.
Applications will be taken at
the Dept, of Social Services
from Tuesday, June 4 through
Wednesday, June 12.
Applications will also be
taken at Harmon Field. Num
bers will be given out starting at
7 a.m.
Families receiving food
stamps will receive a card in the
mail. Families certified for a
year will receive their form in
the mail. All others must sign
up again.
The commodities to be dis
tributed are butter, cornmeal,
flour, honey, green beans,
vegetarian beans, peanut butter,
canned pork or beef, raisins,
egg mix, pears and rice, apple
sauce and cheese.

In Junior Olympics
Two local girls placed in the
Regional Junior Olympics held
in Knoxville, TN.
Amy Jolley placed in the 10
and under group in the 6th place
with the score of 15.623.
Devon Flood placed in the 10
and under group in the 7th place
with the score of 14.389.

in the DHA fourth season Expo,

Sunday, June 9 at 2 p.m. at the
Tryon Fine Arts Center Audito

Roberts and Lonaine Young,
whose fourth and fifth graders
assembled an "Environmental
Exchange Box" to send to Ore
gon. According to these teach
ers, the Sunny View youngsters
put some interesting items in
their box, and were amazed and
delighted at what came from
Oregon by way of exchange.
