Carolina Pony
Club Rally
If you love to see children and
horses having a great time
together, and you missed the
finals of the Pony Club
Regional Rally recently, you
really missed a wonderful show.
Starting on Thursday, June 20,
trailer loads of parents, horses
and children arrived at FENCE,
and from that moment all the
care of the horses was done
entirely by the children (varying
in ages from 8 to 18) without
interference from adults.
The horses were spotless, the
tack rooms neat and tidy, man

was excellent. Amazing what
young people can do when left

Dressage took most of the day
on Friday and stable manage

Communication
Dear Jeff:
It's a great, big world out there
but friends make it smaller.
Ulis is a true story of how the
Tryon Rotary Club Youth
Exchange Program, now in its
16th year, has changed the
entire life of one young man
from Green Creek.
You readers be the judge if it
is for the better or not. In 1989
Andy Lynch, son of Mrs.
Sherry Cantrell and grandson of
Mr. and Mrs. Eugene Kanipe,

Pirmasens, Germany.
Andy had all of the qualifica
tions, President of the Polk
Central Interact (Jr. Rotary)
Club, top 2G of his graduating
class, manager of several ath
letic teams and an accomplished
pianist. The German Exchange
Youth, Hans Justus Keiner-
Senft. son of Dr. and Mrs
Hans Hermann Senft, spent
more than a month in the Trvon
area and was hosted by Can
trells and the Kanipcs plus by
members of the Rotary Club.
On 15 July 1989 the two boys
new together to Germany where
Andy spent 5 weeks in the Senft
household. Upon his return to
the USA, Andy attended the
UNC Asheville for one year and
the UNC Charlotte for his
sophomore year. During this
period the Senft Family and
