Road work alert: Work crews were tearing up the pavement and replacing the cross ties at the railroad crossing at Pacolet and Trade streets in Tryon Monday morning. Workmen will be working on railroad crossings from Country Club Road in Tryon down Hwy. 176 to Landrum for the next few weeks, so be careful. N C 28782 TLT Season To Open The 1991-92 season for TLT is now under way. Tire cast for the fall musical has been cho sen. Under the direction of Christine Fitch Fiddler On The Roof which will be presented at the Fine Arts Center on Sept. 26, 27, 28 and 29, will surely be a sell out. Invitations to join TLT have been mailed. If you were missed, there is a form in today's paper. Just fill it out and mail with your check. Everyone is welcome and, in fact, encouraged to join and partic ipate. The Committee Chairmen will welcome any amount of time you can give them over the period of a year to help with any or all of the productions planned for this season, or other duties. Volunteers are needed for the wide variety of activities associated with theatrical pro ductions. Read The Bulletin For laical News TUESDAY, JULY 9,1991 Sherri Lockhart Holy Cross Awards Scholarship Holy Cross Episcopal Church is pleased to announce that Sherri Lynn Lockhart has been awarded a Holy Cross Memo rial Scholarship. Sherri, the daughter of Johnny and Joan Lockhart of Landrum, is a 1991 graduate of Landrum High School. During her four years at Lan drum High, Sherri was active in the Beta Club, InterAct, and Science Club. She served as her Junior Class President and was Band Captain, as well. She is a member of Oak Grove Baptist Church, where she is church pianist, assistant librarian, and a Sunday School teacher. Sherri participates in G.A.'s and ACTecns, and she serves on the Youth Committee. Sherri, currently a hospital volunteer, plans to pursue a career in the medical field. She has been accepted at both Con verse College and Wofford College in Spartanburg. —Community Reporter 12 Pages Today 20C Per op' McCall Wins National Title Rifle shooter Robin McCall of Tryon won the women's national prone title June 27 at the U.S. International Shooting Championships (USISC) in Chino, Calif. McCall, the 1990 junior national prone champion, won this year's women's prone competition and set a USISC record with a score of 1182. Silver medalist Michelle Scar borough of Hayes, S.D. shot 1181, while Deena Wigger of Colorado Springs fired 1178 to win the bronze. McCall is one of only six junior rifle shooters selected to compete at the 1991 U.S. Olympic Festival, July 13-14 in Los Angeles, Calif. She will fire for the South Team. Community Reporter All-Star Play-Offs The Polk County Senior League 15-year-olds will play tonight at 8 p.m. in the first game of a double elimination play-off tournament. They will play at the Ameri can Legion Field in Forest City. The 13-year-olds played Monday night at Rutherfordton. For information about future games, call Bob Wolfe or Jean Eckert.
