The city north of Los Angeles picked up last spring's story on America's top-25 "dream retirement" areas, but apparently their col umnist got Tryon caught in his throat. "Tryon? "A town of 4,500 somewhere in North Carolina, whose mountains are splendid, if you can tolerate the conflicting harmonies of banjos and rifle fire." Oh, yeah, Mr. Big City Britches! Santa Barbara breath! We'll sec which city stays on the same continent longer. Think about that while you are stuck on those L.A. freeways. (On the other hand, old buddy, pal, we'd love you to put in a good word for us with the Census Bureau about that Tryon population figure. They apparently missed a few homes.) She attends Polk Central where she will be a senior. She enjoys running cross country and track and playing soccer. Rhonda was recently in the TYC production of Grease. Future plans are uncertain, but interests lie in the fields of biology and/or law. This fall she plans to attend the Con gressional Scholars Leadership Camp in Washington, D.C. Jiif Perl ops Worsnop To Address Rotary Bob Worsnop will be the guest speaker at the Thermal Belt Rotary Club's Monday meeting. Bob is chairman of the Appearance and Beautification Commission. He will talk about the organization's intent, plans and future direction. Previously, Leo Baird spoke to the Rotary Club about the Commission's work on a local sign ordinance. In addition to the Commis sion, Bob serves on the Polk County Sheltered Workshop's Board of Directors and as trea surer of FENCE. He is also a member of the local Kiwanis Club. Bob's career was in the automotive industry. Bob and his wife, Nancy, first retired from Plymouth, MI to Mt. Shasta, CA. The Worsnops moved to Chocolate Drop Mountain 3 1/2 years ago. He enjoys outdoor sports and has recently completed a walking tour through the Lake District of England. The public is welcome to attend the meeting which begins at 6:30 p.m..
