The recently concluded
undercover investigation in
Tryon resulted in several arrests
related to drug charges.
However, not all those
charges brought as part of that
undercover operation were for
drugs. Kim Bolsinger of
Columbus, for instance, was
charged with transferring a
handgun without a permit. It is

Transformer Blew,
A/C Unit Smoked
At Polk Central
It was a rough first day of
school for the new Polk Central
Principal Gerald Eubanks and
his staff Monday.
A power transformer blew up
around 9 a.m. leaving the
school with only partial power.
The power was restored by
about 11 a.m., said Pam Bum
gardner, the school secretary.
But the partial power appar
ently caused an air-
conditioning motor to bum up
in the exceptional children's
building, located behind the
school cafeteria.
Smoke pouring from the false
ceiling filled some rooms in the
building and the Mill Spring
Fire Department was called.
"It's settling down now,"
Bumgardner said. "We got
through lunches."
She said most students pro
bably did not even notice the
problems.
