By 7 a.m. Monday another 1.08 inches of rain had fallen. Weather recorder Robert Dedmondt measured 1.83 inches of rain in Tryon during the month of November. The average rainfall in November is 4.15 inches. Last year, November saw 2.52 inches. So far in 1991, 56.38 inches of rain has fallen, 3.29 inches below the average. By Decem ber last year, 68.1 inches of rain had fallen. That was 8.43 inches more than the average. C 28782 Wolverine Basketball Tips-Off Tonight The Polk County Wolverine varsity basketball season gets under way toniglit (Tuesday) when they host Tuscola High School. Tip off is at 6:30 for the women and 8:00 for the men. Derek Thomas has taken on the dual role of coaching both var sity teams. He is ably assisted by Susan Bell with the women and Trey Fincher with the men. Members of the 1991-92 varsity women's team are: Senior, Leah Justice; Juniors, Jenny McGrane, Neysa Calla han, Amber Cole, J. J. Bum gardner, Amy Dotson, Marta Barnett; Sophomores, Ginger Lcvister, Minda Howze, Blythe Edwards; Freshmen, Amanda McCallister, Tamekia Gray. Coach Thomas stated that these young ladies are trying hard to learn a new system. They are dependable, work hard and have good attitudes. He predicts they will do well this season. Members of the varsity men's team are: Seniors, William Burnett, Dwight Canady, Gavrick Carson, Larry Fagan, Rob Phillips, Dewayne Ander son, Duron Davis; Juniors, Darius Twitty, Steven Hines, Derrick Twitty, Randy Smith; Sophomore, Otis Miller. Coach Thomas commented that he is very pleased. They played well in a scrimmage with E. Rutherford and they are looking sharp in practice.
