speak, wise investors listen.
These whippersnappers just
snapped up a $40,000 gain in
the stock market, unfortunately
only with "simulated" transac
tions.
The stock market team was
given an imaginary $100,000
and ten weeks to make as much
money as possible using the
numbers on the Big Board. The
Tryon High students outper
formed the next best team in the
state by $9,000.

The Tryon Elementary School
Spelling Bee will be held
Thurs., Feb. 13, at 10:15 a.m. in
the elementary auditorium. The
judges will be Mary O.

Sally Jo Carter. The spelling
bee rules will be explained
before the spelling begins. The

Dr. Roy Bradford Whitney
Speaks To Rotary
Dr. Brad Whitney of Landrum
will be the speaker at the Tryon
Rotary Club noon meeting at
the Holy Cross Church on
Monday, Feb. 17th. He will talk
about his Peace Corps years in
Napal.
Dr. Whitney is a native of
Memphis, Tenn., received his
B.A. degree in Political Science
from the University of the
South at Sewanee, Tenn, and
his MD degree from the Medi
cal University of South Caro
lina in Charleston. His exten
sive medical training in geriat
rics, family practice and therapy
has taken him to Northwestern,
Chicago's St. Joseph's Hospital,
Oregon Health Sciences Uni
versity and the University of
Minnesota.
Dr. Whitney is active in many
medical societies as well as the
local community with particular
emphasis on the Academic
Excellence Council at Landrum
High School and the geriatric
and extended care programs at
St. Luke's Hospital.

Earents of a son, Tyler Jerry,
orn on Jan. 31st, 1992 at Mary
Black Hospital, Spartanburg.
He weighed 8 lbs. 2 oz. and was
20 inches long.
He has an older brother, Alex
age 3.
