The first three-to-two vote defeated a motion by Doug Brannon to wait for the S.C. Attorney General's office to rule on whether or not Landrum can establish single-member dis tricts. The referendum approved by voters Nov. 5, 1991 called for the election of two addi tional council members at large. The second three-to-two vote gave approval to an ordinance proposed by town attorney Roger Couch which combines a plan for electing two additional council members with a plan to establish single-member voting districts in Landrum. Columbus Fire Chief Geof frey Tennant said the house is still standing, but one wing and the main section arc gutted. The other wing has extensive water and smoke damage and an inte rior wall was torn out by fire men attempting to prevent the fire from spreading. "The house was totally destroyed in terms of there being any value left," Tennant said. No one was home when the fire started.
