Thermal Belt residents are running a sort of Operation Lost Trust themselves these days. Not the sting operation that found S.C. state officials taking bribes. They feel their trust in the Pisgah Girl Scout Council was misplaced. According to one concerned Tryon resident who wrote to us, the council was given the Lake Lanier Girl Scout Camp prop erty in 1950 by Hoyt Prince. He was well aware that many families could not afford to send their little girls away to summer camp. He decided all little girls in our area deserved a chance to... learn to swim, learn scout crafts, to be a part of Girl Scouting. So he deeded his lots on Lake Lanier to the Tryon Girl Scouts, in good faith that it would remain for the benefit of local Girl Scouts.
