Tryon Daily Bulletin, Thurs., Mar. 26,1992 Guest Speaker At mer Sovict Union 85 welL Adventist Church John Sipkens of Singapore will be guest speaker during the 11 a.m. worship service at the local Seventh-day Adventist Church Saturday, March 28. Sipkens is Director of the denomination's Far Eastern Division of ADRA, the Adventist Development and Relief Agency. Through ADRA, work is done to help the poor in developing countries and respond to the needs of disaster victims, including people facing hunger. Aid is given without regard to ethnic, religious or political associa tion. Sipkens' report will involve only a segment of the tenitory in which ADRA is active. Recent information from ADRA International tells of plans to distribute 10,780 met ric tons of food to people in the Ural Mountain region of Cen tral Russia. Distribution to more than 385,000 people will last four months. In Liberia, ADRA has begun an emergency education pro gram for the refugee children in the Cote d'Ivoire (Ivory Coast). Approximately 15,000 primary school children will benefit from the project. High School was named boys high school basketball Coach of the Year by the Spar tanburg Herald-Journal Wednesday. Byrnes coached girls basket- ball at Polk Central High School for four years earlier in his career. He led the Byrnes High School Rebels to a 26-6 record this season.
