Mothering Sunday.
JditS 0 J^reh of England,
tradition had it that apprenticed
children were given the time off
L- ' S1 th , cir Parents. In turn,
their mothers would bake a
special cake, made with cur
rents and almond paste, and the
family would celebrate.
This year, we celebrate the
visit of Beverly Kelly, returning
home from Midland, Mich. She
is the Christian Educator for
Midland Memorial Presbyterian
Church.
She will preach at the 9 a.m.
service at Good Shepherd on
the parable of the prodigal son,
Luke 15:11-32. She is the
daughter of James and Eula
Bryan of Tryon. The traditional
cake, called a Simnel Cake, will
be served at the Coffee Hour
following the service.
