Bridge Philanthropy Award What person, business or non-profit organization in Western North Carolina has made outstanding contributions through philanthropy? Nominations are now being sought for the Raymond A. Bust Philanthropic Leadership Award. The first annual awards program is sponsored by the Community Foundation of Western N.C., which serves 18 counties. Awards will be made in three categories - individual, busi ness, and non-profit organiza tion. In each category, the reci pient will be invited to desig nate a charitable organization in the 18-county region to receive $1,000 from the Community Foundation of Western N.C. Anyone may submit a nomi nation. The deadline for nomi nations is 5 p.m. on May 1, when all nomination materials must be in the Community Foundation office. A committee including Foun dation Board members and other individuals from the region will select recipients and announce the awards at the Second Annual Community Foundation Friends Luncheon on July 22. Raymond A. Hust was instru mental in establishing the Community Foundation of Western N.C. and this award has been created to perpetuate the spirit of generosity which epitomizes his life. The Philanthropic Leadership Award recognizes local philan thropy in Western N.C. Nomi nees must live or be based in one of these counties: Avery, Buncombe, Burke, Cherokee, Gay, Graham, Haywood, Hen derson, Jackson, Macon, Madi son, McDowell, Mitchell, Polk, Rutherford, Swain, Transylva nia, and Yancey counties.
