The Landrum Garden Club
Council met Mar. 26 at the
home of the outgoing president,
Debbie Briggs. The following
officers were elected for the
coming year:
President, Ruth Percy, Weeders;
Vice Pres., Alma Kemp,
Thrifty; Sec., Kay Willard,
Landrum; Trcas., Betty Little,
Spaders; Con. Sec., Jan Horton,
Ml. Laurel; Publicity, Debbie
Briggs, Yellow Jessamine.
The remaining members of
council are: Lib Humphries,
Spaders; Jean Marshall, Weed
ers; Elaine Keys, Landrum;
Betty Schuette, Thrifty.
The Landrum council has
been active with many beautifi
cation projects throughout the
Landrum area. The next council
meeting will be in May at the
home of the new president,
Ruth Percy.

'Jungle Music'
Jungle Music by Paul Basler
who's on the faculty at Western
Carolina University, is music
for piano, cello, French horn
and clarinet.
It has been commissioned by
our visiting artist Cathleen Deal
who along with her husband
Mark Deal on horn, Bill Gouge
on piano and Michael Kissinger
on clarinet, will accompany the
story Jurnanji,A. Caldecott
Award Wining book by Chris
Van Allsburg in two public
school performances. Augusta
Hyde is narrator.
Cathleen says "the purpose is
to introduce elementary school
children to all the families of
musical instruments."
Performances in Polk County
are: Thursday, April 9th, 8:45
a.m. Sunny View Elementary;
April 9th, 10:15 at Saluda
School.
